DESCRIPTION OF THE HUNT: the hunt takes place in a 600,000 hectare cattle station that has a population of 30,000 head of Brahman cattle. The station is surrounded by natural parks constantly throwing wild buffaloes to the area and this population must be maintained stable to prevent disease transmission between wild buffaloes and cattle. Then, each year between 1,000 and 1,500 buffaloes have to be eliminated in order for the buffalo population not to exceed 3,000 head.
The hunters move in off-road vehicles to the area where the helicopter located the buffalo herds. The hunters mounts to a quick line of four and the helicopter drives the buffalo to the positions. Since it is an operation of population control, it has to fold down the greatest number of buffalo, without regard to size, sex, or condition. Properly understood this concept of hunting is very similar, in short, to the Spanish Montería hunting, you have to shoot all possible animals entering in each the drive. Later, groups of skinners collect all the meat from the buffalo. Nothing is wasted. Very good trophies are shot and then also many boars can be hunted that enter, in few days, to feed in the carcasses of the buffalo.
Between 400 and 500 shots are fired to bring down the 100 buffalo expected, which is not necessarily a specific figure, 10% up or down, must be accepted without charge or refund for this variation.
The hunt ends when the raids are folded into the 100 buffaloes and can then go to fishing, hunting pigs or the pursuit of buffalo trophies with Toyotas.
