PERIOD: August 1-10
COUNTRY: RUSSIA (ASIAN PART)
AREA: Taymir peninsula
The hunt is done in the meanders and plains of the river Yenissey where millions of geese, ducks, swans, herons and snow partridges concentrate in order to nest. In the first week of august young birds are already in flight and after the change fly about continually in search of food. The hunt is done from fixed blinds with decoys and calls, by stalking on foot and by boat. Accommodation is in 2 cabins with 4 beds each on the boat, which is used to reach the hunting area from Dudinka, after about 6 hours of navigation. Plenty of ducks and some geese can be harvested during 5-6 days of hunt. In this season the area is infested by mosquitoes and it is necessary to have all the suitable equipment like nets and anti-mosquito creams and lotions. Fishing also can be done, with nets and by spinning. |
