In the area of the Caucasus there are about 12.000 so called Dagestan Tur, which is the largest subspecies of the Caucasian Tur. The Cucasian Chamois lives in this same area also.
The Tur hunt is done from 2500 to 4000 m of altitude. The hunt starts from the hunting house and procedes by sleeping in the mountains in sleeping bags for 2 – 3 days. The stalking hunt allows the hunter to choose the best trophy. This hunt is very difficult and asks for a good physical condition.
