The first region where the Russian explorers arrived in the seventeenth century in the great race of the West was actually the area of the Okhotsk Sea, a large inlet between the peninsula of Kamchatka and the extreme Russian East, in front of Japan. The first Russian settlement was set up there from where they then departed at the conquest of the Alaska. The first settlement erected at the mouth of the river Okhotsk, which still exists, became the most important salmon fishing place. Still today the local population lives exclusively of salmon fishing.
In the rivers of the Okhotsk area King Salmon moves up the river during the month of June, Pink and Sockeye salmon from August through November, while the rivers abound in brown trouts, siberian trouts and graylings that can be fished from May through November.
We organize the fishing on these rivers in the surroundings of the town of Okhotsk, with the accommodation in apartments in the town for 4 people with bathroom with daily fishing trips from the shore or from the small boats. Fishing can also be done on the sea upon request. During the daily excursions you will have the possibility to observe seals, sometimes also killer whales that attack them, the life of the fishermen in the ancient town of Okhotsk and the local salmon industry. Meals will be prepared by the cook who will be at your disposal during the stay.
Our correspondent has also set up a fishing camp on a river reachable in 3 hours of flight by helicopter with comfortable wood bungalows on the best river for fishing in the whole area from which you can fish going on foot or from a raft. The quantity of fish in this river is legendary, you catch dozens of salmon every day. Trout and grayling are also numerous and can be fished continually.
