AREA: Baikal Lake
The lake Baikal is the largest sweet water lake in the world. It is long over 600 km, wide from 100 to 120 kms and deep more than 2000 meters. The Baikal lake contains 70% of the sweet water of the whole world. It has more than 300 affluents, from small mountain rivers to large rivers such as the Selenga or the Angara that are among the biggest Asian rivers. In the Baikal lake live various types of endemic autochtonous trouts such as brown trouts, which are found especially in the affluents. In the mouths of the large rivers there is a high concentration of pikes of incredible dimensions (they reach weights over 20 Kgs).
The fishing, according to the demands of the fishermen, is organized either in the affluents for the brown trouts or on the islets on the lake for very numerous autochtonous trouts that can weigh over 10 kgs and the fishing for big pike at the mouths of the large rivers.
The fishing is organized in two ways, with a big ship that travels around the whole lake, or from the ground in tents then moving by ship from island to island or at the mouths of the affluents, with the ship always at your disposal. The boat has two cabins, with hygienic service in common (wc and shower) with a total of 8 beds for fishermen, plus a cabin for the crew and the guide. In one of the large cabins there are the kitchen and dining room. The fishing is done by travelling up the affluents moving from one river to another. On the islands the fishing is done from the small boats carried on the ship.
A cook and a professional guide will be at the disposal of the group during the whole stay.
The fishing season goes from May through October and the local guide will point out the best areas according to the season.
