In the triangle among Banja Luka, Rijeka and Zagreb, between Croatia and Bosnia, there are the best rivers and creeks for flyfishing in all Europe. These places are not very well known due to their being situated in one of the wildest and little treaded areas in the Balkans. Fishing system is rigorously “catch and release”, and that allows to find specimen of remarkable dimensions.
Our guides, who are all fishermen with many years of experience on flyfishing in these rivers, all local and international fly casting champions, will help you choose the spots and type of fly baits for each section of the river and the fish species.
In this area you can fish for brown and rainbow trouts (2-6 kg), graylings over 50 cm and famous salmons in winter months reaching up to 30 kg.
Here is an overview of the rivers where we’ll take you fishing:
The UNA river
This river is renowned for its large trouts and mainly for its numerous brown and rainbow trouts, full of record-size graylings and Hucho-Hucho Salmon of enormous dimensions up to 30 kg, to be fished for in winter months. Accommodation is in the guest house Saraj.
Streams UNAC and KLOKOT
These two streams are under a special protection regime and are rich in brown and rainbow trout of remarkable dimensions. You’re very likely to catch exemplars of 2 to 6 kg and it is also possible to get a few specimen of up to 10 kg. There are also remarkably sized graylings. Accommodation is in the guest house Saraj or in private houses.
RIBNIK, SANA and SANICA rivers
This system of rivers and streams is ideal for fishing for big graylings of over 50 cm. Autochthonous trouts are also very numerous. Accommodation is in the restaurant “Dado”.
The PLIVA river
This river is considered to be the best river for fly fishing in Europe, with fishing paths on the banks and such a pure water with incredible colours. There are considerable autochthonous populations of grayling and trout. Accommodation is in private houses with services.
FLYFISHING PROGRAM
1. First day arrival to the chosen frontier pass in Bosnia where you will be met by our guides who speak Italian or English, transfer to the fishing area, accommodation, dinner, overnight.
2. Second day, whole day dedicated to fishing, cold lunch, dinner, overnight.
3. Third day fishing until afternoon hours, departure.
