PERIOD: June 3-20
COUNTRY: RUSSIA (ASIAN PART)
AREA: Taymir peninsula
The hunting area is situated in the tundra on the Taymir peninsula on the extreme North of the Russia and can be reached by air flight from Moscow to Norilsk, then by car from Norilsk to Dudinka and from there by a half hour helicopter flight to the alluvial areas of the river Agapa which is a famous migration and nesting site for geese, ducks, swans and herons. Accommodation is in the guardian’s house, without comforts, a sleeping bag is needed and meals are prepared by an assigned cook travelling together with the group of hunters. The hunting is done all the time, from specially prepared blinds, each one for 2 hunters hunting together, with geese decoys and your own calls. The blinds are reached by motor-sleigh, and also by boat, later in the season, when the ice melts. Geese and other game birds fly all day, with more or less intensity, but generally 50-60 birds per hunter can be harvested. Also polar foxes can be hunted and perhaps even bears. There is also a possibility to do fishing with nets and by spinning, especially for pikes that can reach up to 6-8 kg. |
