PERIOD: From September 1 to January 31
COUNTRY: CROATIA
Location: Peljesac
AREA: Reserves of peninsula of Peljesac
The peninsula of Peljesac is located between Split and Dubrovnik. It is about 70 kms long and wide about 20 km, with low mountains, from 400 to 1100 meters, and covered by typical Mediterranean shrubbery. The hunt is done on foot, searching for Muflon sheep with the binoculars from valley to valley. Trophy quality is exceptional and, in fact, all the biggest trophies from Croatia have been harvested in this reserve. During the year only around ten mature trophies, 8 years or more, are available. More then 30 gold medal trophies come from this reserve. Trophies from 210 points and over are the most frequent. The best trophy from this reserve had 232 points. Lodging is either in a hotel on the coast when the hunt is done in the central part of the peninsula, or in the hunting lodge on top of the highest mountain. The best period for this hunt is considered to be from October until December. |
