Greenland – Reindeer
August – September
The reindeer population in southern Greenland has been too high for some time, offering excellent hunting opportunities and great trophy quality. From the beginning of August, the fully developed antlers are also often clean. In the early morning, the reindeer come down to the sea to lick salt, where the hunts typically begins. Later in the day, hunters move up into the mountains and plan the strategy when reindeers have been spotted. The best chances occur while the animals are at rest, crawling into range from the side. If the animals are on the move, we try to circle around the flock and get into position. I some cases, one or two hunters can push the reindeers higher up in the terrain, close range to the other hunters. Lodging is provided in cabins and fly camps, making the stay as comfortable as possible.
