Iceland – Reindeer
August 15 – September 20
In Iceland there is a population of about 3.500 wild reindeers primarily assembled in the northeast of the island on a great plateau under the glacier Vatnayokkull. The reindeers give birth under the glacier and around the middle of August they start migrating towards lowland in the north to pass the winter. It is carried out by searching the immense tundra by 4WD or by a four wheel scooter to find the migrating flocks, then they are approached until the shooting distance.
During the month of August the trophies are still in velvet which they loose by the beginning of September.
Due to the abundance of the reindeers and the very limited number of licenses there is a great possibility to make very important trophies.
