Russia – Chukotka Bear in Spring

 In In the spotlight, Russia

April 25 – May 05

Bears are very frequent in the Chukotka area, especially in the interior, far from the regular communication routes. This is the reason that we offer the bear hunt in Chukotka in an area located approximately 110 km from Anadir, the capital of Chukotka.
Chukotka bear is slightly smaller than the one we hunt in Kamchatka, since Chukotka is further north, an area that is not reached by salmon. The Chukotka bear could be compared in size with the American Grizzly bear.
Bear hunts in spring is organized tracking in the snow, using snowmobiles. Based on the size of the tracks it is possible to estimate the size of the bear and decide if it is worth following. Each day the hunters will have the possibility of finding various tracks, until finding the one of a bear of the desired size.
Lodging is very basic, in small wooden huts that are used by the professional hunters for trapping during the winter, with outside services. The temperatures reach below 0°C and warm clothing is necessary, with a good hat and goggles for the snowmobile.
